Thanks Poet,

For posting the article WRT the UN redefining their stance on AIDS.. Hopefully, continued UN reporting of the devastation AIDS is causing on the African continent will "trickle down" to our nation's society and leadership so that we can finally take a proactive "no strings attached" approach at all levels from treatment to prevention. It is a moral outrage, that "US" as the richest nation in the world has purposefully ignored what is happening in Africa on an official level..

But fortunately, not on an individual level. Our neighbor, a single woman, a nurse, until recently the head of nursing at one of the local hospital's cardiac unit, quit her job and traveled to East Africa to volunteer her services at an orphanage.. To treat the children that were mostly orphaned by this terrible disease.. This wonderful, beautiful woman told us before she left, she was broke, living off her 401K but she had to go..

It is heart warming to know there are a "lot of good" people out there doing a "lot of good".. And living above the X axis. :)..

Because of what she done, we are rethinking our future travel plans.. We travel mostly for fun and to observe.. We better start adding the word, "help" and make it trips. (no pun :)..

take care,

m
