Open Text was a company I followed briefly last year and then completely forgot about until attending a government seminar on June 12. There is a group putting together applications for Global Broadband width services which would permit information flow at fantastic rates and with upgraded security, document verification, and digital signatures. While much of this originally had DOD applications, Patent & Trademarks, via Commerce is buying in heavily. There are currently bills before Congress which have bipartisan support and which would make PTO a government corp which would sell access to this computer gateway to raise funds. The demos for the project were quite impressive and they will likely bring in several if not all Federal agencies and many private firms. The exclusive Text Search engine for the program is from Open Text. I did no research on what the company had been doing for the last year or what the analysts were saying and put in my largest buy order for OTXTF of the year.
