This is where we started: "The United Nation's Human Freedom Index compares the amount of freedom that citizens of different countries enjoy. It considers the right to travel, assemble, and speak; the absence of forced labor, torture and other extreme legal punishment (such as the death penalty); freedom of political opposition, the press and trade unions; an independent judiciary; gender equality; and the legal right to trial, counsel of choice, privacy, religion and sexual practice." Gee, I fail to see much connection between those statistics and this.
OK, you've proven the US is not the most socialistic country in the world. OTOH, we already knew that. Oh, those Founding Fathers- -Jefferson, Hamilton, Madison, etc.- -whose names you are so find of throwing into this discussion? Did you know they are the men who put those limitations on federal power into the US Constitution? Seriously inconsistent with the Big Brother, Big Government subtext you are promoting.
Oh, you need a link to the Magna Carta? fordham.edu
Obviously, you want to maneuver the discussion into a debate on socialism vs. capitalism. But let's quit the BS. That has little to do with the quote above. It's not even required you be a democracy to be socialistic. In fact, it helps if you're not.
You like that socialist cesspool? Fine. Stay there. |
