Eurologic Systems Demonstrating 2Gb Fibre Channel At Data Storage Expo in Japan
Eurologic to Showcase Its Award-Winning SANbloc(tm) Network Storage System
TOKYO, JAPAN, June 26, 2001 - Eurologic( Systems, a leading worldwide provider of network storage solutions for the OEM, indirect channel, and vertical market applications markets in Japan, the U.S., and Europe, announced it is demonstrating 2 gigabit-per-second (2Gb) Fibre Channel capabilities at the Data Storage Exposition being held in Tokyo, Japan at Tokyo Big Sight (Tokyo International Exhibition Center) from June 27-29. Eurologic's SANbloc network storage system will be providing high-availability RAID storage in a SAN environment at the Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA) Japan booth.
SANbloc, the industry's first 2Gb Fibre Channel-ready network storage system, is designed for rapidly evolving SAN environments. The award-winning network storage system offers industry-leading scalability within a dense packaging. Each enclosure supports up to 14 low-profile, 73 Gigabit disk drives to enable up to 1 terabyte of data within a 3U form factor, or roughly the size of a briefcase. Up to eight enclosures can be dynamically added to provide up to 8 terabytes of data in less than five square feet, giving users the ability to "pay as they grow," while conserving valuable space.
The storage market in Japan is the fastest growing market in the Asia-Pacific region, growing at over 15 percent a year and is expected to reach $6.2 billion by 2004. Growth is being driven by the rapid build-out of information technology and communications infrastructure. Japan, for example, currently has nearly 61 million wireless subscribers, and the country is Asia's biggest Internet market with total subscribers expected to hit 64.5 million by 2004.
In January of this year, Eurologic appointed an authorized representative in Japan to head up an office providing sales and support to customers throughout the country. Eurologic also established a Focused Channel Partner in Japan to serve key vertical markets like film and video, and prepress and publishing, and is now expanding its focus to include original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and channel partners.
"Within the corporate environment, electronic commerce is driving a high demand for data storage and transfer capabilities. Many Japanese corporations are now taking a much closer look at network storage architectures like storage area networks (SANs) and network attached storage (NAS) as options for managing their burgeoning storage requirements," said Mr. Takaaki Serizawa, authorized agent in Japan for Eurologic. "Eurologic already is a partner to many of the world's leading server and communications infrastructure providers, and we are looking to form equally significant partnerships with the leading suppliers in Japan."
