>> craig, I think there is a lot of unknowns in evaluating fundamentals of oil and other commodities <<

naw, it's not really that tough. it's as simple as supply and demand.

>> I just can't see how anyone can claim a lot of confidence <<

what makes you think you can have any more confidence picking stocks?

>> But at $26 ? it is right in the middle or upper part of the range. So it is not a sure bargain, as it was 2 years ago. <<

i'm sorry but i don't buy into that logic at all. that's the same sort of logic that would have kept you out of the runaway bull market in stocks. tech stocks weren't a "bargain" in 1999 and were certainly near the top of their range, but they exploded in Q4 '99 and Q1 '00 anyway.

>> But if you want a sure bargain, then i2 and emc are my picks <<

i2 nearly 100 times next year earnings! emc 30 times cash and seven times sales! i think i'll pass on those "bargains".

p.s. since you like out of favor dogs so much, i don't know why you're not interested in commodities. those are truly cheap, although i expect they will probably get a little cheaper before all is said and done.
