OT re socializing medical costs:

Every other wealthy country in the world socializes their medical costs, to a much greater extent than we do. And, every one of them spends less ($ per capita, or % of GDP, any way you want to add it up) than we do. And, many of them have better health care than we do (measured by results, like average lifespan, infant mortality rates, % of babies born underweight, any yardstick you want to use). The evidence from over 30 countries, in programs that have been in place for up to a 100 years, is that socializing medicine, and regulating costs (rather than letting the (un)free market decide), is less costly, and gives results at least as good, as ours. So, the evidence is overwhelmingly against your belief that our system is
more efficient, or cheaper. This isn't theory, it's the historical record.

Socialism, at its best, secures all the necessities of life for everyone (as a right, not as charity).

Socialism, at its worst, makes everyone give up their freedom in order to get that security.
