There you go again, mixing apples up with oranges! I already told you that the issue about Alsace-Lorraine doesn't deal with the "right of return" of displaced people because NO PEOPLE were displaced in the first place!! Think of Alsace-Lorraine as a TUG-OF-LOVE between France and Germany over their Alsacian baby: both countries used to claim custody over BOTH the land AND THE PEOPLE!! The French government always claimed that Alsatians are Frenchmen and belong to France, whereas Germany disagreed and said that no, Alsacians are German fellows... But never, never did the Germans --nor the French-- expelled the locals and pushed them across the border in order to replace them with "genuine" French/German Alsacians.

After WWI, some German-speaking Alsacians were likely unhappy with their new French rulers and quit... I guess that's why my grand parents relocated in Luxembourg in the 1920s...
