FWIW, due to the glorious benefits of deflation, it only took investors until the 1936 peak to get their money back in real dollars if they invested at the 1929 top. Of course, they then promptly lost half of it again in the '36-'37 bear, but why quibble? Repeat after me: Buy and Hold! Buy and Hold! Buy and Hold! We're in this for the long term!
