Well said, Mr. Lawrence. I'm not convinced that the break-up would have been successful towards reform anyway. Two smaller versions of the same thing doesn't impress me. Perhaps:

• Put Ben & Jerry at the helm. Sure, it's two guys who nothing about software, but they've got exemplary business conduct on their side. Should be an enormous corporate culture shock for Redmond, and some innovative product revisions, too: Rainforest Explorer v.6, Purple Hazy Outlook, GroovyPoint 2002.

• Conscript Ballmer & Gates to perform community service work—teaching "Business Ethics" courses at local colleges and juvenile correctional facilities. Under strict professorial supervision, of course.
