AFTER HOURS 'Hybrid' trading on the Island ECN By Nicole Maestri, CBS.MarketWatch.com Last Update: 5:01 PM ET June 29, 2001
NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Island has transitioned to its after-hours trading session although the Nasdaq remained open until 5 p.m Eastern time due to intermittent network outages.
"It looks to me like a strange hybrid of traders," said Island COO, John Hillen, of the after-hours action this Friday on Island.
Hillen said it looks as like a mix of regular-session traders and evening traders showing up to the session.
"We've got some serious flow going on here," Hillen said of the volume. He said they're seeing the same kind of trading action they typically see at 10 a.m. Eastern on a regular trading day.
Of those issues trading, Dell (DELL: news, msgs, alerts) and Cisco (CSCO: news, msgs, alerts) were the top two volume movers on the Island ECN. Dell slid 1.6 percent to $25.84 while Cisco edged down less than 1 percent to $19.04.
