The whole Rambus argument on performance can be simplified down to the concept of giving up latency in return for bandwidth. When you call them on this, they try to say that latency depends on bandwidth, but all they are doing is acting like the wizard in the Wizard of Oz.

The simple fact is that as a processor speeds up, in order for memory to scale with it, it needs to increase in both bandwidth and memory. The other simple fact is that DDR provides lower latency and equal bandwidth.

The Nvidia dual channel DDR machine is going to have more bandwidth than any RDRAM x86 box out there. And better latency. Enough said.
