Reached 46.5 intra-day today. Next week should show anemic volume which may translate into some retracing. Upward momentum should resume with good forward guidance from a few companies following the holiday or after the weekend.

Weighing Positive
The rate cuts
The tax cuts
Falling gas prices
Falling natural gas prices
Perception of bottom formation in the rear view mirror

Weighing Negative
Earnings
Layoffs
Europe
Japan
Strong dollar

Of course it's subject to multiple interpretations, but IMO the inflation factor is out of the picture for at least the next 9 months if not longer. I would look for rebound with some weak tech sectors not participating, such as telecom and wacky internet. There is a good chance that [end of] September and [most of] October, normally a minefield, will see big rallys with retracing to occur in November [as the market gets ahead of itself] leading into a sustained two month ramp in December and January. Pure conjecture, of course, but I base it on the fact that companies have been holding their budgets ever since the first of the year. If management sees the light at the end of the tunnel, the need to exploit opportunity will quickly take precedent, and budgets for the year will be flush with unspent cash.

The marker for that turn of events will be an increase in merger/acquisition activity as the best of the fallen techs get swallowed for their markets and technologies.

Still long QQQ. Looking for a sing trade later in July.

Regards,
HerbVic
