I lived in Illinois before CA. Had a gun there too. Brought it with me and sold it at a gun show about 5 yrs later. I used the Ill. state form to record the transfer and mailed it in myself. If that gun is ever used illegally, I'm off the hook. CA didn't have any gun registration laws then like Ill. did. I inquired at the Police Station and they looked at me like I was crazy. It was a Browning .380 semi-automatic. should have kept it, but I had a rebellious teen growing up and just didn't want to take the chance that something stupid would happen. Chas
