Contrary to popular opinion.
I think amazon will make it.
70 Million a quarter in interest payments.
Just on the big bond.
Concievably.
20-30 million a month selling PUT options (for example) would do it.
Buy back just enough stock.
To support the price.
They do it.
They survive.
the stock doesn't even have to move.
Much.
Sure it can move 20-30 percent a quarter.
from 12-18.
Oops i guess that's 50 percent.
Oh well.
Stock doesn't have to appear to move.
They still survive.
Amazon is like a costco.
IMO.
the early days of a Costco.
14 billion is going to be nothing.
in 5-10 years.
The guys who got in the game.
Just to slash prices.
And didn't care if they survived.
Really.
Those guys are washed out.
The guys who will survive.
and carry this forward.
Worry about things like margins.
And business plans.
And cost control.
Those guys will survive.
This broadband thing.
It's not going anywhere.
It's slow.
The demand is there.
It will drive all this stuff forward.
We washed out all the DSL players.
Who didn't care about anything but a fast buck.
Everybody can learn from them.
It's not all a bad thing.
It's a good thing.
5 years from now
everybody will look back and say.
Geeze.
If i only could have followed my gut feel.
I'de be retired.
Right now.
Well shit.
I bought AOL (err AMER), 500 shares,
The day it IPO'd.
I bought Netscape
700 shares.
The day it IPO'd.
I'm back at work.
Thinking.
If only.
At least i'm not like Morris
Who sold MSFT before the IPO.
