I liked All the Pretty Horses, too. The book is real good, that whole trilogy is good. The second book, The Crossing, bogs down a little, but the third one, Cities on the Plain, more than makes up for it. Cormac McCarthy has pulled off a stunning literary achievement. Cities on the Plain ends with a wonderful dream sequence that I'll bet was written before anything else in the trilogy was written. Everything is a prelude to that.
