Limbaugh is just a symptom of a sickness out in the heartland that creates the Timothy McVeighs of the world.
He yearns for a time back in the 50's I guess when fat white guys like him could get away with laughing at slurs against women, minorities, gays, people who aren't married, long-hairs and people who are more educated, international or sophisticated than himself. I doubt he's ever travelled out of the country either so you can understand how short-sighted he is.
He isn't even aware of how much irrational hatred he brews up in insecure geeky white men (and women) out there who believe and go along with his propaganda because they think Washington has been taken over by what they consider "un-Americans", "un-Christian" elitists or low-lifes. It's closet racism against jews, blacks, etc. and sexism against women, equal rights, homophobia big-time, callousness about environment, promotion of greed at any cost, hatred against a fear of powerlessness which is what McVeigh was all about. The skinny geek who wanted to be in the Army and prove himself a man but ended up getting it all wrong. Who still sees himself as a hero right up to execution time.
If Limbaugh is guilty of slander then he deserves to be slapped. But we all agree with free speech. I don't know what you're talking about though. Have never seen a motion in DC to silence Limbaugh. After the OK City bombing there was a rukus about Limbaugh because he was egging on militia groups. He and others. Therefore that may have been a public safety issue. He certainly deserves to be discredited though and has a lot of apologizing to do when he's constantly wrong about issues, facts and figures. But he never apologizes does he?
The very word "dittohead" says it all. Like the idiots who follow Saddam, Hitler, McCarthy, Fidel, Nader or any other extremist view. The power behind every tyrant begins with hatred, envy and a sense of powerlessness. Limbaugh feeds into that as much as he can. |
