The Blue Heron is a nice place, with a smallish theater and a number of other spaces for rehearsals and readings. They have only occupied this space for a couple of years, and the Monica Timmons Fund was timely, insofar as they are trying to raise money to fix up more and more of the available space. We basically got a small rehearsal room, suitable for script readings and scene work, nicely decorated, with a named plaque at the door. They are ambitious, and got good reviews in the New York Times for a recently mounted play.

The Blue Heron functions as a non- profit "off- off" Broadway venue, mainly to showcase new plays and give professional actors a chance to work in more challenging roles than they might find in the commercial theater. It also works with locals colleges and high- schools on some projects.
