It's only outselling Tualatin 1000 to 1 right now. :-) What you don't seem to realize, is that if AMD can sell a few hundred thousand SMP systems to adventerous workstation users, small businesses, internet hosts, and high end gamers, they get the platform established build demand for the systems. That also establishes what pricing will be for SMP CPUs used in single and dual processor servers. Just as AMD already has in desktops, and is presently doing for notebooks (this quarter and next). AMD is taking over control of the CPU market, despite its minority share of the market. AMD's lower cost structure less politicized engineering has led to its new position as leader of the industry. AMD determines pricing on desktops (by far the largest market) at this point, AMD determined which memory spec became the follow on to SDRAM (defeating Intel's RDRAM), and AMD has defined the next primary I/O and interconnect configuration - Hypertransport.
