Here is my situation, I have a 600E running win 98SE
It has two network cards, an AMD PCNET Family Adapter with the protocol TCP/IP, NetBEUI (I have been using this one for the internet, so I know it works). The other network card is a D-Link 530 with protocols TCP/IP,NetBEUI. There is also a Network Telesystems P.P.P.o.E.Adapter needed to run the internet (I use Sympatico). The primary logon is Windows Logon. I have tried changing this to Client for Microsoft Networks without any effect.
I have named this computer server and the workgroup is serverworkgroup.
In Network Neighborhood I can see server only.

The second computer is a 500 running win 98SE. It has a D-Link 538 Network card with protocols IPX/SPX, NetBEUI, and TCP/IP. I also have the Sympatico Adapter with the same protocols.I have named this computer Client and the workgroup is serverworkgroup. In Network Neighborhood if I use Windows Logon I see nothing. I I use Client for Microsoft Networks I see Client and Server. When I click on Server I get the message that it is not accessable.

The router is a D-Link DI-704 with four ports for RJ45 connectors. There is also a port for connection to a modem with a RJ45 connector ( www. D-Link.ca). Each port has an indicator light showing connection. There was no software with the router. You have to go to their website ( 192.168.0.1 "admin" to setup the damn thing, but if you can't get on the internet with it how do you do this?

To try and connect just the two computers I connected the 600E with the 530 to the router and the 500 with the 538 to the router and disconnected the modem from the AMD in the 600E. Can't connect
What am I doing wrong? Are there other settings that I am missing here? I should also mention that I am running ZoneAlarm.
Sorry I don't live in Hawaii!!
