If the government goes berserk, are your weapons going to save us from a crazed bunch of civil servants or from a military organization that is funded at more than the total of the next 10 countries in the world combined?
Probably not. What will happen, though, is that when those weapons start shooting, it will be clear to the men and women in that military organization that the populace is very angry at the government AND THEY MEAN IT. The men and women in that military organization then have to decide what they will do. They know their weapons point both ways. What they may do is mutiny and bring down the government. It has happened before.
