At a wireless (mainly ethernet) tutorial at the just finished Usenix Technical Conference in Boston the speaker had intended to demonstrate how roaming was much better with GSM in Europe because everyone had the same standard. He asked the audience how many people were from Europe. Four people raised their hands. He asked how many were satisfied with their roaming. None of the 4 raised his hands! So, things aren't as happy as we think. (On the other hand there was a show of hands from US cellular subscribers who were happy with their roaming.) snip from usenet
