Yaacov,

Your story is very disturbing. Here is another.

4 years ago I decided to participate in the "Big Brothers and Sisters of America". This program matches young kids from one-parent households to adults in the community in order for them to set examples in the areas where the parent can not. In my case I was matched to a 12 years old without a father figure in his life.

During the screening process I found out he was Jewish, and I asked the worker to ensure that me bring a Moslem will not be an issue. His mom had no problem with it and we where matched. The match gone well (still going great), I was invited to his Bar mitzvah and I went. Toward the end of the celebration this person who was involved in the organization (which I did not know) came over and asked me to leave and never again associate with the kid, and I should consider it a threat. I left immediately but made it clear to him that I have every intention to built on my relationship with the kid and there was not a thing he could do about it.

As I mentioned, we are still matched and we have learned a lot from each other. Too bad someone did not want the cycle of hatred to break! Someone was too afraid that a young Jewish boy may learn that Moslems are also human with similar life needs and ambitions, and not crazy terrorist as their propaganda suggests.
