The volatility in the market on AMES stock is caused by daytraders. Most of them are on the Yahoo board. Their interest seem to be trading several times a day, scalping the market makers, online. Some are hyping the fact that there maybe mergers, or stores are doing well on 2 day sales events. Some mentioned AMES CFO bought some stock.

It also seems like the online brokerages' software are hungry for commissions and will take any offer of substantial cash.

However, from their posts there maybe an effort by AMES to add merchandise in smaller older stores to achieve denser displays. And they may also go back to restocking faster. Those ideas were done in 1996.

Good luck on this investment. Hopefully the management will pull together and do the impossible as they had done it before in 1996.
