Europe silver sags to four-year lows, gold soft

LONDON, July 2 (Reuters) - Precious metals markets in Europe were soggy in late trade on Monday, with gold dipping close to support and silver hitting four-year lows although traders said there was no hard news behind the fall and the trend would continue with a downward bias.


Silver dipped to levels around $4.26/28, not seen since July 1997, dragged down by weaker gold and a general lack of interest in the metal -- the same scenario which has been in place for several months now. ``Silver's just dead,'' said one trader. ``Some physical interest could pick up around the low numbers but I wouldn't expect too much action
