McCain, Jeffords and Chafee show great courage and independence instead of kowtowing to the corrupt party line. I'm sure they take a lot of heat from the smarmy party machinery types who are bought-and-paid-for by the right-wing soft money kings but McCain, Jeffords and Chafee (and others as well) dare to march to their own drummer and stand up against corrupt soft money ruining our system, for childrens' health and education, womens rights, the environment, the less fortunate and against rising government deficits, in other words almost everything that's important in the long run versus the short-term greedy tactics of the plunderers, TV evangelicals, hate-spouting witch-hunting Limbaughs, fat cat lobbyists and gas and energy gougers who are just after the fast illegal bucks just like tyhey were during the S+L debacle when Reagan unleashed the pigs to the troughs.

McCain, Jeffords and Chafee are walking tall and carrying a big stick these days. Not only do they control the balance of power now but they tower over the Cheneys, Bushes, Delays and Armey's of the world who are so badly corrupted they may not even remember thei real job, to help run a government for the people by the people, not the big fat special interests. They are so busy raising soft money (which ought to be illegal) that they are hardly representing their real contituents anymore at all. Thew right-wing can try to put them down but they just diminish themselves in the process. If McCain ran for president today in an alection void of soft money he'd probably get just as many votes as the Dem and GOp candidate. That's how much the people admire these men now, party machinery be damned. Both parites have gotten bloated and too powerful, especially the GOP with its shamless record gouging, soft money hogging and arrogant almost tyrannical tactics.
