Herndon, VA: There are a number of different standards being developed for Voice over IP, (H.323, SIP, etc...)Which ones do you use, and do you forsee a problem with interoperability in an all VOIP market?
Tom Evslin: Our network is H323 today. We have been a leader in interoperability standards and obviously feel that they are very important. It is a disappointment that true interoperability has taken so long but it is coming and we take advantage of what there is in ITXC.net where we support equipment from Cisco, Clarent, Lucent and VocalTec with some - but not complete - interoperability.
We se a significant role for SIP by 2002, can support it on some of the equipment in our network today, and are planning on this basis. |
