NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- There is a new challenge to the case for U.S. equities.

The persistent strength of the dollar, which is up 10 percent year-over-year on a trade-weighted basis, has raised concern that exports will sag and overseas results will be impaired. I do not believe that the dollar's strength is a new problem or a liability. In fact, I believe that a strong U.S. dollar is a valuable asset for the long run performance of U.S. based financial assets - particularly equities. In the near term, I believe the dollar's recent performance points toward improving conditions in the U.S. economy relative to the rest of the world.
