Liberalism, through its parent ideology, Marxism, is based on class hate, atheism, and outright lies. The emotion-based foundation of the opinions is attractive to many Americans, who consider rigorous reasoning to be foreign and "too much work", and idealism an out-of-fashion concept. Most American liberals are attracted by a set of beliefs that are emotion-driven and allow them to feel like part of the bigger crowd. In the Blue Zone, if you're not liberal, you're not chic. It's a tragedy that America, the end product of thousands of years of evolving enlightenment, is an intellectual failure to the point that Marxian liberalism is so widely accepted. I fear that the damage done by this disease of ideas will reach a point where the renaissance that finally chases it out of society will be excessively brutal and lead to new and different forms of anti-enlightenment.
