Love the alliteration here:

probably plump for Pride and Prejudice

I've not read any Trollope either (she said, blushing). I'm casting about for excuses here. Unlike a lot of contemporary writers, who come out of English and history majors (and poets, who now pursue MFA's), my study of literature was in the context of a Romance Language major. I read the bulk of the body of great Spanish language literature and entered that world through a side door. It gives me a different sensibility and perspective from some American poets, but I have to admit I find myself scratching my head at literary allusions that are commonly known among English majors.
