If you back felt fine in minutes my friend, you didn't have to go see anyone. In fact, a recent study showed that back pain will typically go away in about two weeks if you do nothing for it all......This is about the same time that it disappeared with some sort of treatment. I have suffered from sciatica for many many years and keep in under control by following the MacKensie Method of physical therapy. I do the simple back arching routine before and after my workouts and jogging or whenever I feel pain beginning. MacKensie, a New Zealand physical therapist, published his method about 15-20 years ago and I understand now has 17 clinics across this country.

Insurance companies are paying for chiropractors, I think, because their treatment is cheaper than regular medicine and if you become convinced they're helping it's helps their bottom line. I think they should be strictly regulated as to what they advertise they can cure, e.g. cancer, paralysis, and a multitude of organic problems. In my view these folks are dangerous..... I met one woman who told me her chiropractor diagnosed her as being allergic to beef just by looking at her and then proving it by hanging a magnet around her neck and placing a piece of hamburger meat near it. She was told to raise her arm before and after the beef was placed near the magnet and said she couldn't lower her arm if the beef was there. And this woman was an R.N.
