I remember my mother getting a little upset when during Christmas dinner, 1969, I announced I had volunteered for the draft the day before and was leaving in the afternoon of Jan. 1 1970. Spending the cold night in Chicago at the YMCA waiting for the morning bus to Fort Leonard Wood made me upset. You know we both lived through it. Think how proud you will be when both boys come home for Christmas with their wives and children and have good careers. It's growth. Gotta love it.
