What is propping up ZIXI: Texas chauvinism, specifically the Dallas form of the virus. Half the longs are looney Texans. I've visited Dallas several times, talked to & partied with Dallas folk, and they seem to all have a belief that Texans have a God-given right to get rich, quickly and with no real effort, just because they are Texans. They confuse floating on an underground sea of petroleum with merit or virtue. Also, they worship Dave Cook as the Messiah who founded Blockbuster, even though (1) they overlook his consistent record of failure with every other business he's tried -- Cook Data, Amtech, Customtracks, and now ZixMail and ZixCharge, (2) it was his ex-wife's idea, not his, and (3) it was the Flying Huizenga who took Blockbuster to glory. Third, they are just irrational.
