Cory, we're not talking about a 10-15% miss here and that is the problem Actually, we're talking about an 8.8% shortfall relative to analyst expectations. By comparison, EMC just announced a 25% revenue shortfall. AMD never ever blessed any earnings estimates, other than Hector's assertion that $1.50 for the year was "do-able," hardly a ringing endorsement. No doubt AMD should have warned last week, even if they would have had to give an extremely wide range of revenue guidance and no earnings guidance. I don't dispute that. I like Intel's mid-quarter, err, more like late-quarter update. Even if guidance is somewhat vague, like, "Quarterly revenues are currently 5% below plan" ... this would be huge improvement over last second "warnings." Petz
