Well, based on the increase in AMD unit sales, I believe Intel will fall far short of expectations. No way in hell did AMD+INTC processor unit sales rise this quarter, so Intel's must have dropped.

Intel will claim that they didn't want to comment on the late quarter deterioration because of the "quiet period," which they needlessly extended to start on June 16.

According to the "mid-quarter update disclaimer" on Intel's website:

ntel is currently in its Quiet Period. The Outlook and each of the forward-looking statements contained in the Earnings Releases and Business Update press releases as well as in the company's filings with the SEC on, e.g., Forms 10-K and 10-Q, are as of this date presented for historical purposes only. None of these forward-looking statements should be considered as the current expectations of Intel. The company assumes no obligation to update the Outlook or such other forward-looking information, which speak as of their respective dates.

In other words, if Intel's position deteriorated since June 16, they're not going to tell us about it. The mid-Q update was on June 7. All we know is that Intel's business did not fall off the cliff for the next 9 days. But we know nothing about the last two weeks of the quarter.
