I wou;ld much rather buy a company that has the opportunity to focus on increasing market demand, and market share (like Intel), than a company that only has the ability to increase margins given a rather slow revenue growth (like GE, IBM, 3M)

Not that I respect those companies management less, but those companies are limited how far they can improve the profit picture through efficiency. After all, you cannot exceed 100%. Whereas a company that is focused on increasing the market, and market share is limitless on the upside, and can always focus on efficiency after the demand slows. That gives an investor that much more years of growth, and that much more buffer for safety

If Intel was truly maxed out on efficiency, I would be more worried about my investment, not less..
