Bombardier Receives Order for Modernization of 60
Electrical Trainsets from the Netherlands Railways
MONTREAL, QUEBEC--JULY 5, 2001 - 09:18 EDT
Bombardier Transportation has received an order
from the Netherlands Railways (NS REIZIGERS) to overhaul and
modernize 60 three-car trainsets type SGM III. The value of the
contract is approximately Cdn$132 million (90 million euros).
The modernization will take place at Bombardier's facilities in
Randers, Denmark. The delivery will begin in the summer of 2003
and go on until the summer of 2006.
The work on the trainsets includes new interiors and seats,
passenger information system, new chopper system, new auxiliary
power supply, CO2 controlled ventilation and new air supply
system. Furthermore, an additional entrance in the middle coach
will be built in, the train will be re-painted and a number of
other systems will be overhauled/maintained.
The purpose of NSR with this project is to extend the lifetime of
the trainsets for 15 years, to introduce cost-effective solutions
in operation and to improve the passenger comfort.
