the real pisser is that folks ordering prior to the free shipping deal had their shipping removed in the system EVEN THOUGH AMAZON FULLY INTENDS TO CHARGE THEM SHIPPING!

I am not sure what you mean??

1. raise prices and offer free shipping and tell customers they are better off.

2. 2 weeks later... eliminate free shipping w/o telling anyone...

3. amazon raised shipping rates.

My opinion is Amazon was trying to boost revenue at the end of the quarter. I know they deny that but...

Bear Sterns was pretty funny today. Gives a trading call on Amazon because they expect them to only lose 20 cents (fake number regardless) and (here is the best part) show and upside revenue number of $700 million. However, as of last fall Bear Sterns had projected Amazon to have revenue of last quarter of $790 million. Then they lowered their estimates based on management guidance to $670 million. I can't verify the $790 million from last fall because that report cannot be found by me. Still the best part is Amazon will likely do $70 million less than what Bear Sterns expected them to do six months ago but that is a upside surprise.
