I suppose I will weigh in on this debate about the various medical specialties.

I have no medical knowledge myself, so I am at the mercy of the practitioner I visit. If I have a sore back, as I almost always do, I go to my Chiropractor. If I have a cold, I go to my General Practitioner.

I once visited an Osteopath for a neck problem so severe that it was visible from the outside even by me. He warmed up my muscles and straightened my neck out, which took about an hour. For this he charged me $12. Of course, that was in 1974 when a dollar was a dollar.

My wife's doctor admitted in my presence that medicine has a certain amount of witchcraft to it. I believe many practitioners of all kinds are very good but it is necessary to choose wisely. And take your skepticism with you. That gives some of the demolibs here a problem, I realize. They tend to believe almost anything.
