Mike, yes you can use any ISP you choose. The one I looked at was hooked into our local netcom provider. Here's the way I believe it works. The T.V. plugs into this VCR looking box which is actually a computer. Then there are two lines coming out from the box. One goes to your cable system for the T.V. and the other hooks into your phone lines for the Net. The box/computer integrates the two on your T.V. screen.
It's really worth a visit if you haven't seen them. I was quite suprised by how easily it all seemed to integrate on the Television.

Sorry I didn't ask about Satellite systems.
