Rising from the dead on the other hand is something that ought to make you sit up and take notice that something is different about this "claim"

I haven't seen anybody rising from the dead. Have you?

Christianity not only claims to be in contact with God, but also claims that God has contacted us by becoming a man in order to bring us back into relationship with God by bearing sin on the cross.

Lots of people claim lots of things. Since I don't believe in original sin, I don't see how anybody needed to bear anything on a cross.

I believe that an itinerant preacher named Jesus once irritated the authorities enough that they nailed him to a cross. That is hardly a unique event. I see no reason to suppose that the rest of the story is anything but myth.
