Agreed. The damnedest thing is that the Democrats probably even agree with the Republicans in principle. The problem is that the Democrats oppose anything the Republicans want to do, not because they disagree with the ideas, but because they don't want the Republicans to be too successful at anything, otherwise they gain too much power. Our political system is broken. We can start with elimination of the electoral college. Then we can replace all voting booths with web based voting applications and allow web connected individuals to vote online. Next, we should have an independent congressional house devoted to measuring the economic viability of any policy, complete with veto power for nonviable proposals. Anyway, the list goes on and the tax burden continues to grow larger, while the benefits increasingly shrink.
