In the real world there's no such thing as guaranteed contracts -- not when revenues are collapsing by 50% in the Comm Sector. Live and learn.

Do you think AMD would have done better not to have tried to make long term contracts at all? They could have had better earnings a year ago, but I think that they must have at least minimal help from the contracts now. They might have a slight loss this Q without these contacts.

The CPU news is not that bad because the market would have applauded gaining market share. In the long run
it's a better strategy.


Perhaps but they have given up a lot of ASP for their market share gain. And ASPs seem to go down easier then up.
