"The fact that some of your best friends are Muslims in this country, and that you are a Muslim, lends absolutely no credence to your statements about Afghanistan."

I don't see why not. I infact mentioned that I have Muslim acquantences from over 20 nations and that the perspective from this group is far different than mainstream America. I don't think that proves anything but it provides evidence that the pop press (and you) is not presenting a balanced picture of reality. Nothing new there.

I just spoke to my friend Sankar (Hindu). He is very concerned about the Hindu population living in Afghanistan. The estimate is about 50 thousand Hindus. I empathize with feminist women, Hinus or any other group that cannot by their nature assimilate into the Taleban culture. I just react to misrepresentations of who the Taleban are outside of the fact that they are intolerant regarding the life style of "others."

"Respect is earned by fitting in- if they don't wish to fit in to the world community..."

I'm glad I am an out fit.

Respect among out fitters is earned by standing on principle when it would be easier to just go along and fit in. It's called having integrety...uh.
