from what I've read the mutations problems were in using stem cells to 'clone' and even if problems do arise, it is research so they are learning abortions are legal in this country worldwide there are approximately 46 million abortions or about 35 per 1000 pregnancies and stillbirths and miscarriages [don't know those figures] why not use the embryonic tissue and cells for helping others rather than discarding it "federal funding for stem cell research ......is essential to finding treatments for a range of diseases, including diabetes, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's, ALS, arthritis and spinal cord injuries......stem cells could be used to create organs, including "entire hearts." but I imagine it will turn into a political platform, debate and standing ground for pro-lifers. that's a tragedy for those suffering from the above mentioned diseases cnn.com
