Totally wrong
Depreciation was created as a way to set aside money on a systamatic [sic!] basis so that you have funds once the useful life of that asset has finished.

Depreciation has NOTHING to do with cash. Nothing, nada, niche, zip, zapato, zero.

It reduces earnings by a paper number which reflects the time value of the yearly loss in the value of an asset by approximating its diminution over the years.
