Spotted Owls fulfilled their purpose of bogging down forest management in the Pacific Northwest, so they are history. Besides there are lots of them, far more than ecoterrorists and demolibs ever thought. The current politically correct endangered Forest Creature is more on their level. I kid you not! Forest management is now held hostage to ... ... slugs! No kidding! Check it out! umpqua-watersheds.org The very same critters my lovely wife couldn't wipe out by patrolling the garden and putting hundreds of them in a sack full of salt. It's all over, folks. My entire career was spent growing trees for your great grandchildren. All for nothing.
