Demolib sounds more descriptive than pejorative to me, but offense is in the mind of the listener so I will henceforth refrain from it.

I'm familiar with a number of euphemized geographical names. One, Italian Peak, was changed during my career from Dago Peak. Prior to that I had no idea the Dago was a pejorative for Italian. Then there was always Weitas Butte, changed from the more descriptive "Wet A$$" Butte, which as you can see I have euphemized myself to avoid conflict with the SI police. Also Bear Mountain, once named Bare A$$ Mountain after the two occupants of the lookout tower. My own lookout was named "Diablo Peak," named after the devil.

Then there is always grey pine, changed in the last ten years from Digger pine. Digger, it turns out, was a pejorative term for a certain tribe of American natives in Northern California.

I fear we shall have to change the name of that unfortunate species once again, since it is now named after a politician.
