is this slow heating called "tempering" the chocolate?

I have no idea what it's called ... my idea of successful cooking is being able to hard boil an egg without burning the pot! Hard to believe I actually did that ... left the pot on the stove for an hour. My cooking sucks!

However, I love chocolate dipped raspberries so I kept trying to make it work. Patience is definitely the key here and using the lowest heat and not refrigerating to harden the chocolate. The natural urge is to use a little more heat to speed up the process but that's the worst thing you can do ... one tealight under a fondue bowl works perfectly.
