Right you are, as usual. Darn negative factors! ... It's looking like I would have done well to take my 46 and return to the bleachers for a sittin' spell.

I still expect market sentiment to roll over like a big walrus in the sunshine by the end of the week. Momentum should shift to the positive direction as the companies that didn't warn come across with favorable guidance. Most of the weight on the negative side is concentrated on worries over European Union & global expectations. Keynes lived in an era of protectionism, and his mojo didn't get beyond our borders. The Europeans just think he's dead.

The effect of the employment numbers are just exaggerated lubricant to help the market swallow a needed pullback. The employment statistic still looks fantastic relative to its history in previous negative business cycles.

There is some discussion that the market may do a bounce off of the April lows (or perhaps get worse). While possible, to get to the April low water mark it would take widespread concern that there might be another, somewhat lower bottom to put in place ahead of this Fall's inevitable liquidity roundup. I don't think the bears can sell that scenario very well with the falling energy prices. Quote me if I'm wrong, but I just can't see it.

No, investors will see the US as, once again, leading the swooping world economy and just on the verge of flapping for altitude. The men in the board rooms are already getting sweaty palms. The brokers, weary of the IPO drought, are rapidly testing the air for deals. Watch for M&A announcements to accelerate going into the Fall. The predatory corporate claws will be snagging meat while the prey is weak.
