Southern Illinois is pretty independent too. Which makes it a real swing-voter area. You take Southern Illinois good chance you take it all. Clinton had a lock on it but I think they liked Bush's folksy swagger better than Gore's hyper intelligence and seriousness about issues. Gore took Illinois but Clinton carried it by a landslide. Gore just didn't conect with the average person anywhere near as well as Clinton. It's really a gift. Reagan and Clinton had it, Bush has it to a lesser degree. Gore was a little stiff with people. Still I've seen Gore in action and I can tell you that man really cares and is really-really smart. He would have made an excellent president in many ways, many of the very ways Bush makes a weak one. Bush has a very clever heavily-funded party machine behind him but I daresay people are starting to see this emperor has no clothes. A lot of Dems are going to want to run against Bush. I don't think people will buy his act twice in a row. Esp not after Energy-Gate, which is coming soon so I hear. Right now Gray Davis is suing the energy companies for 8.9 billion reimbursement (as well he should). He won't settle for anything less. The evidence dug up in that case will lead all the way to the White House, and even beyond to the Arabs.

I heard a radio ad today which went' "Davis, pay the bills and admit your mistakes. Quit trying to blame the crisis on someone else. Brought you you by "Citizens for Tax Reform"" (in other words the power companies and Bush cartel trying to assassinate Davis's reputation). The same day news comes out that at least one major power company ordered grids shut down during the peak of the crisis. Those kind of orders come from the top.

A grand cover-up and disinformation campaign is being waged by Bush's friends now. But it won't work here in California. Front page tomorrow will talk about Duke Power and the Bush connection. Duke Power were the villains in the Silkwood Story if you remember, where they murdered the woman who wanted to talk about radioactive poisoning. These are tough ruthless guys this energy cartel and don't ever forget it. It could get ugly when it comes to bringing them down. Luckily though, the facts are not our their side. Hopefully justice will prevail.
